 Teacher Roles and Responsibilities

  • All teachers will use Google Classroom to facilitate instruction.  Classroom codes are communicated by the teacher.  

  • Teachers are available throughout the school day via Google Classroom.  They will post in Google Classroom: Daily Learning Objective(s), Learning Resources, & Student Learning Activities. This will provide direction for parents/guardians. 

  • Teachers will use online tools, such as Google Classroom discussions, Google Meet, and/or Zoom to hold lessons or class discussions.

  • Teachers will monitor student attendance as evidenced through the completion of activities, assignments, discussions, etc. 

  • Teachers will check emails daily and respond in a timely manner.

  • Teachers will offer direct support throughout the week.

  • Please check each teacher’s Google Classroom for when direct instruction, support, or check-in times are listed.  

 

Student Roles and Responsibilities

  • Dedicate suitable time to learning as guided by your teachers.

  • Create a schedule for your day including brain breaks and time to recharge.

  • Use appropriate behavior on Google Classroom.  Students may be "muted" from discussion boards if inappropriate behavior occurs.

  • Monitor PowerSchool weekly to confirm assignment submission and to stay informed of progress in the course.

  • Check Google Classrooms and emails daily for information on courses, assignments, and resources.

  • Attend and participate in virtual instruction and/or check-in times offered by each of your teachers.

  • Identify a comfortable and quiet space to study/learn.

  • Engage in the virtual school platform with academic honesty.

  • Submit all assignments in accordance with provided timelines and/or due dates.

Parent/Guardian Roles and Responsibilities

How you can support your child in their learning process?

  • Monitor Pittsgrove updates through the District website, Facebook, and phone/email.

  • All teachers will use Google Classroom to facilitate instruction.  Classroom codes are communicated by the teacher.  If you need a code, contact your child's teacher via email. 

  • Checking in with your child daily is critical. Parents can specifically monitor virtual learning tasks, activities, and assessments that students have been assigned.

  • Encourage adherence and attendance in the virtual learning check-in times offered by each teacher.

  • Monitor PowerSchool weekly to confirm assignment submission and to stay informed of student progress in the course.

  • Designate a place where your child will work independently on his/her assigned tasks.

  • Ask your child to provide a brief summary of the learning he/she is engaging in for each class to ensure their understanding and ask your child about his/her upcoming assignment deadlines.

  • Remind your child to email his/her teachers if he/she has any questions.

Support from your School Counselor and Child Study Team

 

The Guidance Department and Child Study Team is available to provide you with online support services during regular school hours.  Please feel free to reach out to your child’s school counselor or case manager via email to discuss any academic or emotional concerns you may have.  However, if you are having a mental health crisis and you feel you need immediate assistance, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
