UPDATE – SCVTS Admission Testing Process

Salem County Vocational Technical School

The admission test is one of the pieces of the pie in regards to the academic reviews SCVTS conducts on each applicant for full-time enrollment.  However, since Covid 19 -- in an effort to still keep up our timeline in terms of informing applicants and their districts of the admission status by early May -- our Board of Education last night approved an amended policy that eliminates admission testing for the current admission cycle.

Therefore, full-time applicants for the 2020-21 school year will be academically evaluated by our admission committee according to the scholastic information: including the students' GPA from the current year and previous year; their attendance record for the current year; and their state assessment results from the prior year.

For the students in those districts where we already have conducted admission testing, the results of those tests will be disregarded and will not impact the enrollment decision on those students.

Students who have applied for a host-site academy that requires an additional non-academic step (i.e. audition, interview, portfolio review) will still be expected to complete those processes, as each has been adapted to conform to remote, electronic guidelines that eliminate person-to-person contact.  Information on those updated procedures has been emailed to those applicants, or will be in the coming days.
